Lynn M. Patterson Collection, 1981-1990.

The collection is a chronological file of materials originating from Lynn M. Patterson, Senior Administrative Aide to H. M. Schurmeier and Fred Felberg. Represented in the collection are interoffice memoranda, notes, correspondence, forms, and reports. While none of the documents reflect or document key changes in Laboratory policy, the collection reflects on the rather mundane, but essential, events behind the scenes. A great deal of the collection deals with support of the Associate Director and other management personnel, such as transferal of property, address changes, and travel arrangements. Patterson did take notes for several meetings, such as a Facilities meeting on October 21, 1988, and these are in the collection. A November 1982 panel discussion on secretarial professionalism includes short essays on their work experience by the three JPL secretaries that attended the class: Patterson, Betty Rose and Charlotte Schieffelin. The three essays are included in the collection. There are two files of copies of security clearance forms filled out by Patterson and Schurmeier in 1981. The security questionnaire was for the Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), and was filled out in order for Schurmeier and Patterson to be given Top Secret clearance.
